Gluten-Related Disorders: An Evolution in Diagnosis

Alessio Fasano, MD; Chief, Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition; Associate Chief, Department of Pediatrics, Basic, Clinical and Translational Research, Massachusetts General Hospital for Children; Director, Mucosal Immunology and Biology Research Center; Director, Center for Celiac Research, Massachusetts General Hospital

As scientific understanding of gluten-related disorders has evolved, so has the approach to clinical evaluation and laboratory testing. Dr. Alessio Fasano will discuss the nature of celiac disease and other gluten-related disorders, provide updates on diagnostic algorithms and biomarkers, and review data on new technologies such as chemiluminescence for diagnosis and follow up testing. Participants will hear a clinician’s perspective on testing needs for patients presenting with symptoms of a gluten-related disorder, as well as for patients on a gluten free diet.
